High Tech Computer Corporation, abbreviated as HTC is a Taiwanese Telecommunications company. This company is well known for its high end and good quality smartphones with trustable features. One of its recent and successful launches is the HTC One A9 smartphone. HTC started producing its HTC One series of smartphones with both the Android and Windows OS. All the phones in this series were ensured to have touch screens and big displays accompanied by HTC Sense. Out of this series the HTC One A9 was claimed to be a hero product by its CEO. This smartphone was a major come back for HTC after its failure with the One M9 previously. This smartphone is promised to have an amazing interface with good display. This is the only the Non-Nexus phone that is being launched with pre – installed Android Marshmallow OS. Also, an additional feature is the presence of a fingerprint sensor. Now, let us discuss in full depth in this HTC One A9 Review.

HTC One A9 was announced on 20th October 2015 and was finally released in November 2015. During its launch, it was priced at INR 29,990/-.

This smartphone comes with a full metal body finish like most of its HTC phones. This has a very thin and highly sleek look. This is made of thin metal coating with a durable inner body. The actual thickness of this smartphone is just 7.3 mm. It comes with a length of 145.8 mm and a breadth of 70.8 mm. Known for its exceptionally lightweight smartphones, yet again it has kept up that reputation. Weighing just 143g HTC One A9 is sure very convenient to carry around. It comes in different choice of colours like Opal Silver, Carbon Grey, Deep Garnet and Topaz Gold.

This smartphone comes with the beautiful AMOLED display curved aptly at the edges. This gives it a nice smooth finish and a classy look too. The display is of the capacitive type and has 16 M variance. The size of the display is 5.0 inches. This makes the phone comfortably fit in the palm by not being too huge. The screen resolution is 1080 x 1920 pixels with an approximate screen to body ratio of 67 %. Also the display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4 which gives resistance against scratches. The display is supported by the HTC Sense interface.

It comes pre installed with the most updated version of the Android OS, v 6.0 (Marshmallow). The chipset aiding its operation is Qualcomm MSM8952 Snapdragon 617. The processing is carried out by a pair of CPU chips, the Quad – Core Cortex – A53 each with different processor speeds. One runs at 1.5 GHz and the other at 1.2 GHz. The GPU used here is Adreno 405.

HTC One A9 comes with two internal storage variations. One with a 16 GB internal memory accompanied by a 2 GB RAM. The other one is a 32GB model with a 3 GB RAM. The best part about its storage is the availability of expandable storage using a microSD card. Externally storage can be expanded up to a max of 2TB.

This smartphone comes with a non– removable Li – Ion battery. It has a capacity of around 2150 mAh. This is below average considering the cost of the smartphone. It provides a talk time of up to 16 h. The standby time it promises is around 18 days. While on music and video playback it lasts up to 60 h and 12 hrs respectively.

Camera: It comes with both a front and a back camera. The back camera comes with 13MP clarity and the front camera with just a disappointing 4 MP clarity. The additional technical features of the back camera are the Dual LED flash and lens aperture size of f/2.0. Other supportive and enhancing features are Sapphire crystal lens cover, Voice Activation, Back Illuminated Sensor(BSI) and the other default features too.

Audio: One of the best audio experiences can be obtained from HTC One A9 device. It comes with a built in DAC which converts the 16 – bit audio to a 24 – bit rich sound with high resolution. This gives the audio an enormous depth and makes the experience soulful. Also, the presence of the Dolby Audio Surround feature gives a new amplified output through the speakers. It also has a functional FM radio option.

Video: The camera can record videos at 1920 x 1080p resolution at 30fps. It also supports features like Hyperlapse, Video sharing and calling. It supports all default video formats.

This smartphone comes with only one sim capacity. This is seen a major disadvantage by many especially with such a high-end pricing of the phone. The sim is of nano type and works with GSM network. This sim is compatible with 4G/LTE and also with 4G in India(band 40). It also comes with other the standard wireless connectivity features like Wi-Fi and Bluetooth v 4.1.

Score: HTC One A9 has received a feature score of 78 for the 16GB version and 82 for the 32GB version on This phone hence has a decent score and can be considered for purchase.

Features: The advantages in this phone are blatantly it’s good OS and interface along with a powerful display. The most disappointing feature is its battery capacity.
